Broadcom VMware Acquisition

VMware is now part of Broadcom

In the final months of 2023 it was announced that Broadcom - an American-based technology company that designs and develops a large range of semiconductor, enterprise software, and security solutions - had closed a $69 billion acquisition of the cloud-computing firm VMware.  Our customers will be familiar with VMware through our enterprise cloud offering - as their software and technology is what our VCS (VMware Cloud Servers) are hosted on.  Through this technology, we've been providing high-availability, stable and secure virtual machines for our clients.

When this acquisition was announced, many theorised that VMware would continue to operate as per usual, with services, software, and costs remaining relatively similar to how they were organised prior to the acquisition.  However, since the acquisition, several upcoming adjustments to their licensing and pricing models have been announced and will be coming into affect in the near future.

In response to continual feedback from their clients, VMware has long been on a journey to simplify their portfolio, and this shift is in part the steps that they've undertaken to address this.  However, throughout the world, this shift is also causing major ramifications for providers of VMware services, including Micron21.  Specifically, with the simplification of their line-up through the combination of many different services into packages, the pricing for all VMware services will be increasing substantially.

In response to these changes, Micron21 will be launching new platforms which will form the basis of our cloud services moving into the future.  Whilst initially spurred by these changes at VMware, these new cloud platforms from Micron21 are excitingly going to enable a wide range of new capabilities for our clients.  Our platforms will continue to provide the same level of high-availability, redundancy, and fault tolerant infrastructure that our customers have grown to love, but will also allow our clients to benefit from the added protection of having their data off-site, at no additional cost!

Stay tuned - we'll be releasing more information shortly about these exciting new cloud platforms!
