Showing hidden files (dot files) in cPanel

Overview:

The File Manager in cPanel does not display hidden files by default. These are files that start with a dot, such as .htaccess. To be able to edit these files using the File Manager, you will need to activate the option to show hidden files. This guide will walk you through the steps to do so.

Method:

  1. Log into your cPanel hosting service.

  2. Navigate to the File Manager tool, under the Files category.

  3. Click the "Settings" option located in the top right.

  4. Select the “Show Hidden Files” option, then click "save".

  5. You can now see all hidden dotfiles in your cPanel File Manager tool.
